Science of Cinema

CCFF and Impression 5 Science Center are teaming up to bring you Science of Cinema, a day of exploring the sound, light, and motion of movies! Science of Cinema includes a pop-up theater showing family-friendly animated and live action short films, a Foley sound studio experience, and a green screen activity for kids of all ages to participate in. Foley and green screen activities will be recorded and posted to YouTube for viewing after the event!
At 2pm, join us for a special showing of the short film Eliminadora and participate in a Q&A with the filmmakers including the 13yr old lead actress.

*FILMMAKERS IN ATTENDANCE* Ten-year-old Sofia dreams of being a Lucha Libre champion. However, a disapproving mother and over-protective father stand in the way of her plans. So Sofia sets off on a journey that takes her all over the city. Join her adventure as she encounters a colorful cast of characters and learns how to become a real champion.
The Box
The happy life of a Syrian kid alters instantly with the sudden war and he finds himself in a state of struggle. The war changes not only lives, but also the role of his box; first as a carefully built toy house, then as a place to take shelter in a refugee camp with full of dangers and finally as a boat that sails for a journey towards hope.
Pleasant Peninsulas
*FILMMAKER IN ATTENDANCE* Pleasant Peninsulas is the spectacular cinematic experience of summer in Michigan through the eyes of two twenty-year-olds. It is the result of a summer spent traveling around with the goal of inspiring others to get out and experience all that the great state has to offer.
