Dissonance: Official CCFF Afterparty

Lace up your combat boots or pop out the summer rave gear a little early for an evening of untraditional sights and sounds in Frandor’s Shopping Center. This year, the film festival party lords resurrected the shuttered Sears building to summon cinephiles, music snobs, and scene queens alike to celebrate its 11th(ish) year as Michigan’s premier international film festival.

As the culminating event for the Capital City Film Festival, DISSONANCE opens with the CCFF Poetry Project Readings Symposium backed by afrofuturist quartet Cash & The Loud Pack. Just before midnight, Detroit-based indie “darklings,” Decliner, take the main stage. The techno punk trio have shared the stage with acts such as Iceage, Show Me the Body, HO99O9, VR SEX. Working to merge punk energy with the textures and structures of dance music, Decliner has found a place within the ether that appeals to disco divas and honky-tonks alike.

Guests are invited to wander through the warehouse and art gallery exhibition, gaze at CCFF memorabilia and order from local food trucks.

Decliner

Decliner is a post-punk / techno band based in Detroit, MI. The trio wrote and recorded their debut EP, “Remember,” with Omar S, released on FXHE Records in May of 2021 with global physical distribution. Since then, the band has self-released a series of singles on their Bandcamp and have played consistently in the Detroit market, sharing the stage with acts such as Iceage, Show Me the Body, HO99O9, VR SEX, and more. Working to merge punk energy with the textures and structures of dance music, Decliner has found a place within the ether that allows them to explore a wide sonic range, appealing to hardcore fans and ravers alike.

Cash & The Loud Pack

Making their Lansing debut, Cash & The Loud Pack is an amalgam of the American Jazz lexicon, informed by South Floridian hip hop genealogy. The result is the Midwest-based quartet following the celestial maps of an afrofuturistic approach to improvisational music.

Cash landed in Lansing in the late twenty-tens, where he quickly formed musical kinships with local enforcers of sound. A devoted music educator, Cash with his entrusted band of players evoke memory and contemplation from audiences that seek a more colorful tomorrow.
