Weird Barbie’s Hideout: OFFICIAL CCFF AFTERPARTY wsg AURAT
Calling all creatures of the night!
Sweat off anxiety and devastation inside a downtown sanctuary on Saturday, April 20th in Lansing, MI for the Official Capital City Film Festival Afterparty.
The closing night of the festival stars punk rockers Aurat (pronounced OH-RUT). Hailing from Los Angeles, the band transcends Western goth aesthetics by fusing their love of industrial and electronic body music coded with the beauty of the Urdu language.
Gil and Azeka of Aurat will perform a produced set featuring the hypnotic grace and symphonic corrosion from their second EP, Kharr. Inspired by the determination to rid oneself of the sorrow and pain imposed by the world’s ruthlessness, each track off Kharr defies naysayers with the unbreakable intimacy of two lovers. With support from Hamtramck noisemakers Day Residue, you won’t want to miss Aurat’s Michigan debut at The Fledge.
Weird Barbie’s Hideout
Before the bands play, head downstairs and descend into Weird Barbie’s Hideout — a subterranean sorcery of Lansing’s hottest DJs and DIY fashionistas. Or claim your power by the mainstage for the House of Manifestation’s annual Ganja Ball.
From deep cuts to remixed 00s throwbacks, the CCFF afterparty is sonically engineered for any clique. The festival’s closing event will also serve as an exhibition of paintings created by Junkyard and Bek Small.
